The evaluation made on the occasion of the passing into the new millennium revealed the most of our projects reached a development stage that enables them to run on long term in Romania. Also, these projects are covering a wide range of fields, and they are complementary to each other. In this context, we will try on medium term to integrate all these projects in a programme named The Analytical Center for Emerging Fields (Agro-Food and Pharmaceuticals) in Romania.
The objectives of this Programme are the following:
- the support of Romanian education and non-profit research institutions, by the provision of additional analytical facilities;
- the transition from the current phase when all our projects are based on subventions, to a new phase in which some of these projects will become self-sustainable. In this way they should not only escape the continuos menace of disappearance, but more than that, they should be able to offer subsidized access for education and non-profit research institutions;
- the provision of state-of-the-art analytical services for deficient and emerging fields in the Romanian economy, such as the agro-food and pharmaceutical ones. These analytical services should also solve out the problem of self-sustainability of the existing facilities and of the further subventioning of education and research projects;
In order to develop the Analytical Center for Emerging Fields, the following ongoing projects and the facilities they developed will be integrated in a network:
- The Optical spectroscopy Laboratory (Bucharest - Voluntari) - the core of the Center;
- The National Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory (Bucharest);
- The NMR Library (Bucharest);
- The Low Temperature Laboratory (Bucharest);
- The Medical Library (Cluj - collaboration);
- Training of students and researchers;
To the above listed projects (that are individually described in various sections of this Internet Web Site) the following new project will add up:
- The management of the Analytical Center

Fig. 1. The Analytical Center for Emerging Fields aims to integrate the existing and ongoing Projects as well as the Experimental and Documentation Facilities around the Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory. On medium term this laboratory should become the core of a modern quality control analytical center able to cover deficient and emerging fields in Romania such as the agro-food and pharmaceutical ones.
